A Realtime Monitor
for
NeoScipt Named Counters

This example uses of the Named Counter facility avaiable through NeoScript and the timed forced reload facility available with Netscape2.0 and JavaScript.

Using this example, I can watch the changes in a named counter as various of my pages are visited - sort of a realtime monitor of the number of visits to any pages tracked with this named counter.

Use the "Watch Counters" button to open a sort of "floating toolbar" monitor window. NOTE: the count will show -1 at first, but will reflect the actual counter value as soon as the left frame is loaded.

Select the test4 counter using the counter selection list and click the Set Counter button to begin watching the test4 counter.

To force the counter to increment, simply reload this page.

NOTE: the update frequency in this example is about 5 seconds - i.e. the counter is queried once every 5 seconds.

The real demos on counters and visitor tracking, etc. can be found HERE
